IMPORTANCE OF TEACHING ART IN EDUCATION
Art education is
important as it is an excellent creative tool for self-expression, helps
students develop problem-solving skills, and encourages them to think outside
the box. Art education teaches students about different cultures and encourages
them to work collaboratively. Art education is essential for many reasons, but
art’s benefits are not limited to art. Art is a powerful tool that can unlock
your visual thinking and help you succeed in other areas.
Art education
means different things to different people, but the crux of it, is that it
imparts knowledge and education in various fields of the arts like music,
theatre, dance and visual arts. Society functions in such a way now, that a
majority of the manual and technical jobs that were done by people before, can
be done by machines. The main demand lies in innovation and creativity,
thinking outside the box and having good interpersonal skills.
Some of the most
obvious benefits of art education is that it encourages creativity and
engagement in a different way from what is usually taught in the school.
Art teachers must
be ready to advocate for committing the necessary resources to prioritize the
value of creativity in the classroom. You may have to explain the importance of
art education in a school’s curriculum and present the research to back up
those claims. Studying the arts also helps improve academic performance, not
just through creativity, but it improves learning in areas like math and
science as well as the literary field.
Art education also
fosters collaboration and group learning. Often times, it brings people and
children together, helping them learn from, and aid each other as they
persevere towards creating something. It improves emotional balance and helps
kids become team players. It also improves accountability, as kids claim
responsibility for their mistakes and accept their faults when working
together.
Appreciation for art also makes a significant difference in people’s lives on a macro level. Entire societies may stand to gain from an investment in the arts. Drawing on data from the General Social Survey, researchers from the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Department of Public Administration linked participation as either an audience member or creator to higher levels of civic engagement and social tolerance. This work suggests that learning how to draw, paint, sing, or just appreciate the works made by others can help us become not just happier and healthier, but also better people.
COMPARE AND CONTRAST BETWEEN ART, CRAFTS AND CALLIGRAPHY.
Art
Art is not for
everyone, those who are not good in their studies they get good marks in art
and vice versa with good student with less creativity because less mark which
affects their result, it is expensive subject in terms of materials to afford. Art
can limited children and focuses on to draw figures only. The expression or
application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual
form.
such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.
Crafts
The term crafts is often used to describe the family(relations) of artistic practices within the family decorative arts that traditional are defined by their relationship to functional products such as sculpture forms in the vessel tradition or by their use of such natural media as wood, clay, glass, textiles and metal.
Calligraphy
Calligraphy is a
type of visual art. It is often called the art of fancy lettering. A
contemporary definition of calligraphic practice is "the art of giving
form to signs in an expressive, harmonious and skillful manner".
Calligraphy is the
art of writing script in such a way as to express the beauty of what is being
written in the formation of the letters themselves.
DIFFERENCE
BETWEEN ART AND CRAFT:
- Art
is described as an unstructured and open-ended form of work; that
expresses emotions, feelings, and vision. Craft denotes a form of
work, involving the creation of physical objects, by the use of hands and
brain.
- Art
relies on artistic merit whereas craft is based on learned skills and
technique.
- Art
is well known for serving an aesthetic purpose. On the other hand, craft
serves human objectives.
- Art
gives particular attention to ideas, feelings and visual qualities.
Conversely, craft gives stress on the right use of tools and materials,
and the application of technique.
- There
is a flow of emotion in art, which emerges from heart and soul. In
contrast, the craft is the product of the mind.
- Craft
can be quantified easily which is not in the case of art.
- The
duplicability of art forms is not possible while craft forms can easily be
copied.
- Art
is the consequence of an individual’s innate ability. On the contrary,
craft is the result of learned ability and experience.
DISCUSS HOW ART IS HELPFUL IN IMPROVING OUR EDUCATION SYSTEM IN PAKISTAN?
Art instruction
helps children with the development of motor skills, language skills, social
skills, decision-making, risk-taking, and inventiveness. Visual arts teach
learners about color, layout, perspective, and balance: all techniques that are
necessary in presentations (visual, digital) of academic work.
Providing economic
incentives to the students may encourage the parents to send their children to
school and may help in reducing the dropout ratio. Local government system is
helpful in promoting education and literacy in the country.
Art education
helps improve decision making, boosts the self-confidence and makes children
more self-assured, as they learn about what appeals to them, and they directly
influence how their final product will look.
Funds should be
increased for education in the country. Schools should be made near to the
population so access can be made easy this way and according to the
constitution of Pakistan. Peaceful environment should be ensured to the
citizens. Free and quality education should be providing to the citizens.
